Belize was granted independence on September 21, 1981, since then it has been in the Commonwealth, with Queen Elizabeth II ruling its kingdom and state.

The border countries are Guatemala and Mexico, and it shares borders with Honduras.

The area of   this country is 22,966 km, twice the size of Estonia or slightly smaller than the US state of Massachusetts.

Belize has a population of only 361,000 (census 2015), making it the least populous country in Central America.
The capital city is Belmopan, the largest city is Belize City. The languages   spoken are English (Official), Creole, Spanish, Griffona, and Maya.
